You sent an email invitation campaign, but your attendees are still marked with the status "Invite not sent," and you don't know whether your invitations were actually delivered?
No problem, this article explains the reasons in detail.
- What are the different attendee statuses?
- What is an email of type "Invitation"?
- Why are your attendees still marked as "Awaiting response"?
- How do you move your attendees to "Awaiting response"?
What are the different attendee statuses?
When you invite an attendee to an event, five statuses are available:
- Invite not sent: automatically assigned when your list is imported
- Awaiting response: when the attendee has received an email of type "Invitation"
- Pre-registered: if configured in the form
- Confirmed: if the attendee has confirmed their attendance
- Refused: if the attendee has refused the invitation
The article Everything to know about your attendees registration status provides more details on each type of status.
When you import attendees, their status is automatically set to "Invite not sent."
Two reasons can cause an attendee status to automatically change to "Awaiting response":
- The attendee receives an email of type "Invitation"
- An automation is triggered
We will not cover this second case in this article, we will focus only on emails of type "Invitation."
What is an email of type "Invitation"?
The difference between an invitation email and an email of type "Invitation" is simple:
- An email of type "Invitation" includes a special link that redirects to a registration form
- All other emails are of type "communication"
In the image above, the content of both emails is almost identical: both are invitations to an event.
The first email does not contain a special link to a registration form: it is of type "communication."
The second email contains a special link to a registration form: it is of type "Invitation."
In other words, when you use a special link that redirects to a registration form, Eventdrive recognizes that you are sending an invitation to an event and categorizes your email as type "Invitation."
Why are your attendees still marked as "Awaiting response"?
The email you sent is of type "communication," so the platform is unable to determine that you sent an invitation email to your attendees.
To check whether your attendees actually received your invitation, see the article Where to find your campaign report?
How do you move your attendees to "Awaiting response"?
