For each virtual session, you can choose between two types of broadcasts: Plenary or Workshop.
These two session types have small differences in the way they look from an attendee's point of view. Below are some visuals to illustrate the slight differences.
There is no difference in what speakers and moderators see in their live session, but you might wonder why it looks different from an attendee view during your test runs. If you'd like to learn more about the settings available in Workshop and Plenary sessions, check out the article How do I manage my Live Streaming settings?
The technology used for Plenary sessions compiles all the content that is being displayed (speaker video + screen share) into a single video stream. This broadcast view is exactly the same for all attendees. If the content being displayed does not fill your entire virtual event space, the empty content is automatically filled with black providing your guests with a more comfortable experience.
What Speakers and Moderators see
When a content is highlighted such as this main speaker.
When all speakers are displayed equally in a mosaic.
What Attendees see
When a content is highlighted such as this main speaker.
When all speakers are displayed equally in a mosaic.
Please note that if a content is highlighted (such as a screen share or a speaker manual selected to be highlighted), it is also highlighted for your attendees.
Please be advised that if you have a highlighted screen in a plenary session, only 5 thumbnails are displayed next to it.
There are two possibilities for the thumbnails to change:
- As soon as the system understands who is speaking, the speaker will be automatically highlighted.
- If a speaker turns off their camera, their thumbnail will switch to another speaker who has their camera turned on.
